Outside the city are lands famous for their rugged beauty: majestic mountains to the north with the famous Gergeti Trinity Church in Kazbegi.

To the West you have Bautumi, an up and coming seaside resort city. The central and eastern regions are famous for wine (really the whole country), fermented underground in clay pots called qvevri. Fortresses built inside mountains, sprawling vineyards, secluded monasteries, and food so good you’ll wonder how you never tried khachapuri before.
